This morning, Shadow EFRA Secretary Victoria Atkins MP and Tory leader Kemi Badenoch held an emergency summit to address some urgent food and farming issues ahead of the Budget. Badenoch said that it's time to "bring back common sense" to farming policy and asked farmers to work with her to forumlate solutions that are "by farmers, with farmers, for farmers".

Atkins promised to:-

  • Reverse the APR and BPR changes and axe the Family Farm Tax
  • Put food production at the core of the Party's agricultural policies
  • Review and reform the regulators in the agricultural sector

Atkins has agreed to take policy ideas directly to the Government, rather than attempting to score political points. You can view a recording of the livestream here.
