Marisa Heath has 20 years of experience on advocacy and policy formation in the field of environment, farming, animal welfare and food production. She has led inquiries and produced reports with recommendations that have led to policy formation and legislative change. Marisa has undertaken work delivering a local food strategy, land management framework and rural economy funding. She was CEO of the Plant-based Food Alliance and also advised Parliament and Government on provision of small abattoirs and local food networks.
Marisa has spent extensive time within farm to factory and abattoir to supermarket and consumer groups to understand the farm to fork process. Cabinet member for Environment and Planning at Surrey County Council, she has wide experience of community engagement, and local action as well as the reality of food choices and limitations at public level having spent time in food banks, local food support groups and in the local health services.
